Shear 97 and ShearCAD Recent Improvements

  1. 8/12/13 SHEAR 97:
An optional truck-loading bar code is available for those SHEAR 97 users with the Premium Tagging Module (Bar coding).
Premium Tagging has allowed for automatic bender bar codes on your SHEAR 97 tags for the last 12 years.
Now, this new truck-loading bar code provides you with a computerized database of tagged items as they are loaded on the trailer for shipment.
  2. 1/11/11 SHEAR 97:
A Scroll-Bar has been added to the SHEAR 97 Barline (dark-blue) entry screen for you!
As you've done for years using ShearCAD, you now have the convenience of scrolling to see a particular range of line numbers.
Also, as you enter new barlines at the bottom of a list, SHEAR 97 will automatically scroll one line at a time, and this way,
you'll see the group of barlines you just entered on the same dark-blue screen.
This new scroll-bar feature applies to SHEAR 97 Estimating, Barlisting, and Standalone Detailing.
  3. 8/4/10 SHEAR 97, ShearCAD:
The BEAM Function has been updated!
Now, with a single BEAM Function, you can detail or estimate a beam with multiple spans.
Each span of this beam can have a clear span and support width which is different from the other spans.
ShearCAD details all top bars, bottom bars, center bars, stirrups or ties on the barline screen,
while drawing all spans of the beam as a single, integrated beam in your AutoCAD drawing.
  4. 2/12/10 SHEAR 97, ShearCAD: New SHEAR 97 and ShearCAD feature:
Generate a standard Microsoft SQL Database from SHEAR 97 data.
All SHEAR 97 Jobs data, Releases data, Barlines data, Materials data files are condensed into a single standard SQL database!
When you run the database creation, you can choose to include any or all of these Barlines: Detailing, Barlisting, and Estimating.
Use your own Microsoft SQL server or other SQL database "engine", or download the free Microsoft SQL Server Express (free up to 4 GIG).
Your SQL database can be "joined" or integrated with your other company database(s) for Reporting or Accounting purposes.
For reporting, download a free SQL query/reporting program from the web, or use a program such as the well-known "Crystal Reports".
Any report you can think of can be readily viewed and/or printed from your newly created SQL database!
  5. 5/20/08 SHEAR 97, ShearCAD: New and expanded SHEAR 97 and ShearCAD Manual, version June 2008

  6. 1/28/08 SHEAR 97: New SHEAR 97 Feature:
There is a new Load List format (alternate Loadlist format style 3) which prints with larger characters and is more readable.
This new Load List format also prints a picture of each bent bar in the same line as the bar line.
To implement Load List format style 3, in the SHEAR 97 Setup preferences on line 514, enter: 3
  7. 12/29/07 SHEAR 97, ShearCAD: New SHEAR 97 and ShearCAD Feature:
ACI Tension Lap-Splice Lengths and Compression Lap-Splice lengths are now implemented.
In the lap field of any function code (or most any other length field), the lap is computed based on a lap code you enter, such as the following examples:
    example 1: AT13 (class A, Top bar, Case 1, 3000psi)
    example 2: 11BO28E (size 11, class B, Other, Case 2, 8000psi, Epoxy)
  8. 12/6/07 ShearCAD: New ShearCAD Feature: The STRETCH command button now applies to a 'drawn bar callout'.
A 'drawn bar callout' is a bar that was drawn to scale by double Left clicking on the bend type (even though it is empty for a straight bar).
To stretch a 'drawn bar callout', first click on the Stretch button at the bottom of the dark-blue ShearCAD screen.
Next, in the drawing, you will single click on the particular bar leg with you want to increase (or decrease).
Finally, you click a base point and displacement point, and automatically the appropriate dimension will be increased (or decreased) in length.
  9. 3/5/07 Shear 97, ShearCAD: New SHEAR 97 and ShearCAD Feature: FPad Spread Footing (footing pad) function code. You enter footing dimensions, along with the sizes for top and bottom bars, and either the quantity of top & bottom bars or the spacing. All bars (top & bottom bars, and Standees) are computed for you. In ShearCAD, the Footing Pad is also drawn for you.
  10. 11/14/05 ShearCAD: Draw any bar to scale and place in your cad drawing. This works for all SHEAR 97 and ShapeMaster bend types, as well as straight bars!
